Making a Payment in the App

How to choose a payment method, complete checkout, and retry a payment that did not go through in the PGicover app.

This page covers the technical steps for paying in the app and what to do if a payment does not go through. For questions about refunds or policy terms, see your policy documents.

Payment methods you can choose

Credit or debit card: Processed immediately. Once the card payment is confirmed, your policy is issued and your documents become available.

Bank debit (Canadian accounts only): A pre-authorized debit from your Canadian bank account. Bank debit takes a few business days to clear, so your policy will not appear in the app until the payment has cleared.

Monthly financing through FIRST Insurance Funding: Your premium is spread across monthly installments. You review and sign a finance agreement electronically during checkout. Your policy is issued once the agreement is active.

Completing a payment

Open your application in the app, choose a payment method, enter the requested details, and confirm. Follow the on-screen steps through to the confirmation screen so the payment is fully submitted.

Your policy has not appeared yet

If you paid by card and your policy did not appear, sign out and back in to refresh your account.

If you paid by bank debit, allow a few business days for the payment to clear. Your policy will appear once your bank confirms the funds. You will receive a confirmation at that point.

If you paid by card and your policy has still not appeared after a short wait, or your bank debit has not cleared within 5 business days, contact us.

A payment did not go through

If a card payment was declined, common reasons include:

If a bank debit was rejected, check with your bank that the account is set up for pre-authorized payments and that funds were available.

To retry, return to your application in the app and complete checkout again.
